Pilates
North Gold Coast
Bodywork Evolution has just moved 10 minutes from Pacific Pines to a beautiful bespoke Pilates studio and treatment room nestled in the Highland Reserve area of Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast.
Pilates is not just about fitness; it’s about regaining and maintaining strength, movement, control and getting in touch with your body.
Sessions encompass a variety of Pilates exercises that utilize both large Pilates equipment, such as the Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, and chair, smaller equipment and mat-based routines.
What makes Pilates equipment special is its ability to provide additional support and relief for your joints through adjustable springs. This equipment-based approach allows you to customize the level of assistance or resistance according to your ability, injuries, and strength, potentially yielding more visible results.
Notably, it contributes to improved body posture and enhances the definition of arm, leg, and abdominal muscles.
On the other hand, Pilates mat work relies solely on your own body for stability, necessitating core strength and body control to execute positions and movements. When practising on the mat, your body constantly contends with gravitational forces, demanding precise physical control.
To ensure a well-rounded Pilates experience, at Bodywork Evolution, we advocate a balanced combination of mat exercises and studio equipment techniques.
Our approach accommodates individuals at all skill levels, whether you are focused on recovering from an injury, seeking pre- or post-natal care, or simply aiming to enhance your overall well-being. Our exercises are adaptable to your evolving needs and personal goals.
What’s the difference between clinical Pilates and regular Pilates?
In standard Pilates classes, a larger group follows the instructor’s movements, offering a general workout for the body. These movements are not personalized to account for an individual’s unique circumstances, injuries, weaknesses, or objectives.
Clinical Pilates sessions, on the other hand, are entirely customized to your needs. Your instructor is trained to understand that with injuries and pain, there often comes a change in how your body moves. Using the help of the springs and pulleys on the equipment, you will be guided at your own pace through each technique, equipment use, and even your breathing. You will be able to relearn good movement patterns and let go of compensation patterns.
This can then be integrated into your everyday life and exercise habits.
There’s no risk of feeling left behind in a large class or struggling because something doesn’t quite feel right with no assistance available. Each movement is thoughtfully selected for you, working towards the goals of enhancing your posture, strength, flexibility, balance, and breathing, all while focusing on your specific needs.
Moreover, your well-being takes precedence, ensuring you’re never asked to perform a movement that exceeds your body’s safe capacity, considering your stage of recovery.
Your body is very adaptive and, therefore, will respond to the demands placed upon it; movement is one of the best medicines you can give your body.
I like to think of Pilates as “Therapy Through Movement.”
Who is Pilates Suitable for?
Pilates is suitable for most men and women of all age groups and levels of fitness.
It is ideal for injury prevention and rehabilitation but also suits those who want to stay fit, lose weight, and tone up.

Private Pilates Sessions
Private sessions offer a more customised plan modified to your individual needs rather than a general class plan offered in a group setting.
If you are new to Pilates or have an injury you are still recovering from; it is strongly recommended that you schedule several private sessions before being able to join a group class.
