Remedial Massage
Integrating different manual therapy techniques and tailored to your specific needs
What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a targeted treatment designed to help address acute and chronic pain, injuries and movement restrictions.
Sessions begin with an assessment including medical conditions; I will also usually do a postural and movement assessment to determine an effective treatment plan for you.
Remedial Massage treatments include combinations of hands-on manual therapy, remedial massage techniques, and movement to identify and treat painful areas and address other areas or issues contributing to the problem and pain.
Techniques include
- Soft tissue massage therapy
- Muscle energy technique (MET)
- Myofascial treatment
- Deep tissue
- joint mobilisation
- Intra-Oral work
- Exercise
Remedial massage and manual therapy are very effective treatments to help with conditions such as joint sprains, muscle strains or pulls, tight muscles, aching muscles, limited movement, headaches, jaw pain, back pain including disc injuries, neck pain, shoulder injuries and many more.
At Bodywork Evolution, my treatments often involve fascial release techniques based on the Anatomy Trains protocol. I have found these very effective at relieving long-term chronic issues, and the benefits are long-lasting.
Long-term chronic issues don’t just happen overnight, and several factors may contribute to the problems you experience and are often expressed as pain or limited movement.
By looking at your whole system, I can get to the root of the cause and, therefore, treatments result in a longer-lasting solution and management protocol.
A postural and movement assessment will be done before the treatment and often rechecks during and at the end.
What to expect
I do not use oil; a Tui wax balm made of natural ingredients allows me to have a deeper, more effective touch and work into the tissue rather than on top of it.
Assessments are done with you in your underwear or shorts and t-shirts, whichever you are most comfortable with. This allows me to see how and where your body is moving and identify restrictions that may be contributing to pain elsewhere.
